Lists are powerful and flexible organizational and management tools that are easy to use.

I have used lists in all their varied forms for most of my life to ensure that I don’t forget important tasks that need to be done, important purchases that need to be made, or simply things that I need to remember no matter how hectic times get.

Lists are a tool to help your memory.

Lists can be used to organize your tasks, thoughts, and other things that are important to you.

Lists are easy to create.

Lists are easy to change.

Lists can be organized in a variety of ways.

Lists can be kept in a variety of ways, from paper to electronic.

Lists can be targeted to a variety of lengths of time, as needed.

Lists can store the steps needed to complete a process or task that is done only infrequently.

Make sure you get in the habit of checking your lists as often as is appropriate to help keep you organized.

To use lists, you simply place the items you want on the list, one item per line.

The list can be a simple piece of paper, a whiteboard, or kept on an electronic device.

The software for keeping lists electronically does not need to be purpose-built or complicated, any note-keeping or text application that is not limited in the length of what can be stored can be used.

Once you have the items on the list you can begin to manage the list.

The items on a list do not have to be organized in any specific way, but if an organization of the list is desired this can be accomplished in many ways.

A list can be organized in many ways, including organization by item priority, organization by item sequence, organization by date or time, and many other ways.

The order of items on the list can be altered with items moved closer to the beginning or end of the list than their current place. This is great for using the list as a sequence of items to be handled in order.

The individual items can be marked for priority so that you can keep track of important list items no matter where they are in the list. Alternatively, the list can also be organized in order of priority so the most important items on the list are easy to locate.

If a new item needs to be added to the list, it can be added to the beginning, the end, or at any point in the list that is appropriate.

As items on the list are completed, they can be crossed out or removed.

A sub-list can be nested under an existing list item, this is useful for keeping track of the steps needed to complete the list item the sub-list is nested under. Sub-lists can be added many levels deep to construct very detailed or complicated lists.

You may also keep multiple lists as separate documents or files. These can be kept independently or you can use another list to refer to each of these.

Remember to check the list often so that the list can help you help yourself.
