Hawk rescued and sent with an Uber driver

In Miami Lakes a man by the name of Gary Klemme found and rescued a red-shoulder hawk this passed Tuesday morning. The hawk appeared to be poisoned while biting into a rat. The man called Pelican Harbor seabird station, a wildlife rehabilitation to see what can be done and within 5 min. an Uber driver was at the mans door ready to pick up the hawk. The hawk was safely transported to the wildlife rehabilitation, wrapped in a blanket in a cat carrier.

The center has spent over $4,000 on Uber drivers picking up endangered wildlife in 2017. About $16 per ride to the rehabilitation. Roughly about 20% of the patients arrive viva Uber. These Uber drivers have helped save the lives of many patients because they arrive quickly, safely, and the staff at pelican harbor can stay on site to help care for those in need of 24/7 attention.
